Ippon Kumite - 一本组手

Ippon Kumite is an one-step prearranged sparring exercise in Kyokushin Karate. Sanbon-Kumite takes three steps, attacking three times, defending three times and counterattacking after the third defense.

The Kumite usually starts and ends in Fudo Dachi. At arm's length distance TORI steps backwards into Zenkutsu Dachi with a block. This is followed by an attack where UKE blocks and performs a counter-asttack. The entire Kumite is completed in as fast as possible.

Kamae-te - 構えて is an instruction given by a Sensei to his students. For example, "Zenkutsu Dachi, Kamae Te!" (get ready into the Zenkutsu Dachi position).

This should not be confused with the word Kamae - 構え, which means posture or base. Kamae is to be differentiated from the word Dachi - 立ち. Dachi refers to the position of the body from the waist down, Kamae refers to the posture of the entire body, as well as encompassing one's mental readiness.

Naore - 直れ, is a command to go back into the beginning Kamae.Naore
